Slow down — enjoy the art

Holland exhibit part of global contemplation event

The Gallery at the Holland, 127 E. Columbus Ave., hosts a Slow Art Day beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The local gallery joins a group of more than 200 events planned around the world for the fifth annual global Slow Art Day that encourages the public contemplation of art.

According to studies, patrons of art museums and art galleries spend an average of eight seconds viewing an individual artwork. Slow Art Day is a way to remedy that.

Participants who register for the online “View Five Discussion” will enjoy a guided discussion of five selected pieces of art by the event host, Karen Feltham. Following the viewing, participants will discuss the art and their experience. No art-related experience or training is needed.
