A local planner was hired as a code enforcement officer during a Tuesday Bellefontaine City Council meeting that also included a discussion of a city bar at least one city resident believes should be shut down.
Council approved first reading of an ordinance that would create the code enforcement officer position and Service-Safety Director James Holycross announced that Weston Dodds, who currently works as a planner with Logan-Union-Champaign Planning Commission, is the top choice for the job.
The position pays $20.43 per hour based upon a 2080 hour work year, according to the ordinance.
He is expected to begin work May 5, Mr. Holycross said.
During the meeting, city resident and former bar owner Sandy Enderle, who has been on a crusade to close Moore’s Cafe, revisited the issue.
