Brendan Harford, 19, of Huntsville, and Isaiah Snipes, 19, of Lewistown, each was charged with underage consumption following a traffic stop that occurred about 10:20 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of south Ludlow Road.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department reportedly observed Mr. Harford speeding in the area of Patterson Avenue and Madriver Street and, cross the center line on Ludlow Road in the area of Lake Avenue.
A traffic stop was initiated on Ludlow Road just south of Bellefontaine Middle School, and officers reportedly smelled an odor of alcohol immediately upon making contact with the suspects.
Both were visibly intoxicated, according to incident reports. Mr. Harford reportedly failed field sobriety tests. He was also charged with a marked lanes violation, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Police allowed Mr. Harford to call a sober person to come and retrieve the vehicle. Both teens were issued summonses and released to a sober person.
