Heather Lynn Johns, 29, of 4877 County Road 130, Huntsville, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, a marked lanes violation and possession of fictitious plates following a traffic stop that occurred about 11 p.m. Saturday on Brennan Road.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department reportedly observed the defendant cross the center line in her vehicle while traveling eastbound in the 400 block of east Lake Avenue. Police reports document two other times the motorist reportedly crossed the center line.
A check revealed the license plate on the vehicle did not match the car the suspect was driving, police report.
A strong odor of alcohol was detected as the officer approached the vehicle, according to a report.
The suspect claimed she was traveling from her residence on County Road 130 to a residence on Organ Street, and denied having consumed any alcohol.
The suspect failed a series of field sobriety tests. Her vehicle was searched and towed from the scene. An unopened, and also a separate empty, 16-ounce can of beer was located on the passenger seat, police report.
A search of her purse also turned up a glass pipe police suspected had been used to smoke marijuana. Suspected marijuana was also located in the center console of the vehicle.
Asked about the pipe, Ms. Johns reportedly admitted she had smoked marijuana from it the day before. She denied any knowledge of the false license plate on her car.
She was initially transported to Logan County Jail, and was eventually released to a sober person.
