Tumblin, Yoder to be laid off
The two women tasked with sorting through Tri County Community Action Commission’s massive debt will be laid off at the end of next week, leaving the board of directors to decide how to repay hundreds of thousands of dollars to a long list of creditors and state agencies.
Rebecca Tumblin, who has been serving as interim director of the agency since Denise Birt was placed on unpaid administrative leave two weeks ago, and Jacqueline Yoder, the fiscal officer who brought the debt to full disclosure since her hiring earlier this year, both said at a Friday board meeting that the task of resolving the debts seemed insurmountable.
“We appreciate all the faith you have put in us, but we don’t have what it takes to get out of this mess,” Ms. Yoder said. “For all the passion we have to keep this going in Logan and Champaign counties, it seems the state is not on board with that.
“It’s time for me to step out of this.”
