James E. Blake, 29, of Columbus, was charged with two counts of domestic violence following an incident Saturday evening.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of westbound U.S. 33 near the Union County line about 11:20 p.m. on a report of a domestic dispute in a vehicle. A Union County deputy also responded to the scene.

The driver, Carly Patterson of Columbus, reported that her daughter, Corinne Patterson, also of Columbus, had been riding in the vehicle with Corinne’s boyfriend, Mr. Blake.

Corinne showed a picture message she received on her phone to the defendant, and then he allegedly punched her in the face. When Carly tried to break up the fight, Mr. Blake also allegedly punched her. Carly said she pulled over the vehicle at that time.

Deputies observed redness under Carly’s eye and red marks on Corinne’s forehead. The defendant was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail.

• Abbra Branan, 37, of 14566 Beech Ave., Avondale, Lakeview, was charged with domestic violence following an incident Friday evening into early Saturday morning.

Deputies responded to her address shortly after midnight and spoke with her husband, John P. Branan, 40. He reported that their family had been to a friend’s residence earlier that evening, and that his wife had consumed alcohol there.

The couple reportedly started arguing on the way home, and once at their residence, the argument became physical. Mrs. Branan reportedly pushed her husband and also bit him several times.

Mr. Branan said he held up his arms to protect himself from her advances, but didn’t act aggressively toward her. He also reportedly recorded the incident on his cell phone, which deputies reviewed.

She was transported to the Logan County Jail.
