The Lions Park ball fields were discussed at length during the regular Huntsville Village Council meeting, with Huntsville Ball Association president Cody Carruthers reporting on some of the needs to bring the fields up to par for the coming season.
Last year, he said, crews began resurfacing the fields, but the work was not completed. Plans to correct the surfaces are in the works. The ball association also would like to add concrete to the floor of the dugouts to help with cleanup and erect a 70-foot batting cage between fields 3 and 4. Officials will stake out the area to make sure it would not interfere with any catch basins or drainage tiles and make a decision at the next council meeting at 7 p.m. April 15. The final day to sign up for summer ball is Sunday, March 16.
The park walking path also was discussed. Quotes to fix buckles and resurface the path will be sought.
Central Collection Agency will be at the village office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 22 to assist residents with filing city income tax forms.
