West Liberty Village Council plans to promote an existing part-time employee to full-time, hire a third full-time officer for the police department and donate $18,000 to the town hall restoration committee.
The police chief and street superintendent will also be afforded 4 percent raises.
Those are the highlights of a permanent appropriation package totaling $2,001,350 that passed first reading only Monday during a regular council meeting.
Permanent appropriations as proposed represent an increase of $73,262 over last year’s budget.
