Reisa D. Kersting, 46, of Ostrander, was charged Monday with theft.

She was observed pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise through Wal-Mart, 2281 S. Main St., and place items inside a large purse.

Store security said she left the cart in an aisle, took her purse and tried to leave with about $118 in stolen goods around 6:40 p.m.

She tried to blame it on her grandchildren, saying they put the items in her purse without her knowledge. Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report store surveillance video shows the children went with their mother once they entered the store and were no where near the suspect and her purse.
