Man jailed after lewd conduct at store

Seth Mermann, 21, of Kenton, was charged with felony counts of voyeurism and public indecency Sunday evening following an incident at a store in Russells Point.

Officers of the Russells Point Police Department responded about 5:30 p.m. to the Dollar General, 147 E. Main St., in reference to a suspicious male.

Just a few days prior to this call, the same suspect reportedly asked clerks about closing times and banking information, prompting law enforcement presence at closing.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Mermann, and following a criminal history check, officers learned that he previously was convicted of public indecency. Officers called his probation officer, who explained that the defendant had prior convictions relating to lewd conduct inside businesses in both Hardin and Union counties.

Meanwhile, officers checked the defendant’s cell phone, where a video was found of Mr. Mermann performing a lewd act inside the store while unsuspecting customers are nearby.

He was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail. The defendant also is a suspect in an incident about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Bellefontaine currently under investigation by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
