Ohio Hi-Point Career Center school board swore in a new board member Wednesday during a regular meeting, a move made possible through a bill passed by state legislators.
Kevin Decot was sworn in to represent Marysville School District. It will be Mr. Decot’s first year serving on the Hi-Point board, and he is the board’s first non-traditional member — a board member who doesn’t also serve on a board of education in his home district.
Mr. Decot works at Honda of America Mfg., and is qualified to be a JVS board member because of HB 59, which took effect Sept. 29, and dictates that career-tech boards may consist of industry and business members.
