Tyler Bevington, 16, of 1460 Township Road 56, Bellefontaine, was issued a summons for discharging a firearm in a prohibited area/roadway Wednesday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on County Road 130 about 6:30 p.m. to speak with a 15-year-old boy. He reportedly had been outside running in the area of township roads 56 and 217 and heard the sound of a gunshot, and then heard a bullet whiz by his head.
The 15-year-old reportedly observed a person standing by a car at a residence on the corner of township roads 217 and 56. He then ran back home and contacted law enforcement.
Deputies went to Tyler’s residence and observed numerous shell casings in the driveway area and saw several targets set up facing the roadway.
They spoke with Tyler and an 18-year-old subject at the home, both of whom said they had been shooting at the targets the previous evening. Tyler admitted that he had fired one shot that evening as well, and said he hadn’t noticed anyone outside at that time. His firearm was confiscated for evidence.
