Cecil R. Potter, 28, and Danielle A. Wages, 29, of 5699 E. State Route 274, Rushsylvania, each was issued a summons for child endangering Tuesday after deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office observed “deplorable” conditions at their residence.
Deputies responded to their home about 4:30 p.m. in reference to a well-being check. While at the home, deputies reportedly observed mice and cockroaches on the kitchen counter, dirty dishwater in the sink, trash strewn about the living room, and filthy conditions in a bathroom and bedroom.
Mr. Potter also reported that there was no running water at the home and that there was no heat except for electric heaters. An oven also started smoking while deputies were at the home, and Mr. Potter remembered that he had been cooking food in the oven.
Four children at the home, ages 2-13, reported that they had not bathed since the weekend and had not been able to brush their teeth. Logan County Children’s Services was contacted, and the children were removed from the residence and taken to a relative’s home.
