Washington Township Police wrapped up an investigation into the theft of a purse late Monday with charges and the arrest of Michael Ansley, 43, of 7350 West St., Russells Point.
Video surveillance from the establishment showed Ansley taking the purse in the early hours Saturday from a female patron at The Landing Tavern, 235 E. Main St., Russells Point, after helping her with her coat.
An off-duty officer jogging along State Route 366 recovered several items near the spillway along the route Ansley would have taken to his Waterbury area home. Items from the purse also were found in his residence.
Ansley was charged with a felony count of theft of a credit card and petty theft. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
