West Liberty-Salem students likely enjoyed their snow days off at the time, but the snow and ice has cost them a portion of their spring break.
Administrators and the school board announced Tuesday during a regular meeting that Monday and Tuesday, March 24 and 25, will be regular school days for students and staff as the district looks to make up for missed days of instruction.
The district’s spring break had been set for March 24-28.
The contingency was built into the 2013-14 school calendar, which was approved by school board members last year, Superintendent Kraig Hissong said.
The district has already made up one calamity day by having school on a scheduled day off for students, Mr. Hissong said. Jan. 17 was to have been an in-service for faculty and staff, but instead was a day of instruction for students.
If the school is able to make up two days next month, it will have five remaining school days to make up.
