Richard A. Denning, 31, of Anna, was charged with domestic violence following an incident Sunday evening at his estranged wife’s residence in Zanesfield.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2874 Sandusky St., Apt. 2, Zanesfield, about 10 p.m. in reference to a domestic dispute. They met with Rebekah Denning, 26, who said her husband had texted her earlier that day and threatened to come to her residence and “break down” her door.
She said he came to her home that evening unannounced and would not leave when asked. He then allegedly threw her on a bed and choked her, and struck her several times in the face, causing her face to bleed. He also reportedly bit her on the shoulder and destroyed her cell phone.
Deputies noted that she had a red mark on her shoulder and that there was blood splattered in the apartment. They also interviewed a neighbor, who had overheard a commotion and a woman crying and screaming.
Shelby County deputies arrested Mr. Denning at his residence in Anna, and he was turned over to Logan County deputies and transported to the Logan County Jail.
