Cellular retailer donating supplies to local teachers

The Cellular Connection, 2244 S. Main St., will be donating supply packs filled with glue, pencils, pens, markers, erasers, paper, tissue boxes and more, to 10 preselected local teachers from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Across the county, the company is donating these supply packs valued at $80 each to a total of 3,500 teachers through its Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway. For each teacher reached, an estimated 30 students will benefit.

Residents in the commu- nity of each participating store have also joined the cause by rounding their purchases up to the nearest dollar with the difference going directly toward the giveaway.

“Every year, teachers spend an average of $1.3 billion of their own money on school supplies, and on top of that, budget cuts continue to lead to less support for our teachers,” said Scott Moorehead, TCC president and CEO. “At TCC, we believe teachers deserve more. We believe that teachers rock. This is one more way we are giving back through our Culture of Good, and we’re proud to be able to do it.”
