Aric L. Rader, 42, of Ottawa, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was cited for failure to control following a snowmobile accident about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
A deputy of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol in the area of State Route 235 and Stephenson Street in Lakeview observed several snowmobiles driving on Indian Lake.
One of the snowmobiles then struck the sea wall and went about 40 feet in the air. The snowmobile operator, Mr. Rader, was thrown from the vehicle.
Indian Lake squad responded to the scene, but Mr. Rader refused treatment.
The deputy observed that the defendant’s speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were performed, and then he was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to take a breath or urine test.
