Sidney seeks public's help




The Sidney Police Department along with Sidney-Shelby County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public.

The Sidney Police Department is investigating two thefts of purses that occurred Sunday, February 9, 2014, in Sidney. 

The first theft occurred at Kroger’s and was reported at 1:39pm.  The second theft occurred a short time later at Wal-Mart. 

Jacob S. Martin, age 20, was arrested on unrelated charges and was found to be in possession of property from one of the purses.

The Sidney Police Department needs help in identifying two possible acquaintances of Martin who have been listed as persons of interest and may have information about the two thefts. 

Photos have been attached of the unknown male and female who were seen leaving Wal-Mart in a 4 door silver vehicle.

This is an ongoing investigation and charges related to the thefts have not been filed.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 937-492-TIPS.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. Callers will remain anonymous.

Sidney-Shelby County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $500 for information leading to the identity and arrest of the individuals involved in this crime.

The funds used for Crime Stoppers’ rewards are raised through donations and Municipal Court fines. Tax dollars are not used to pay rewards.
