Tri-County Community Action has trained Ohio Benefit Bank counselors available that can help area residents prepare and file their tax returns.
To qualify for the free service, participants must meet the income eligibility requirement of less than $65,000 per year in household income, or $95,000 for those married filing jointly. If filing jointly, both parties must be at the appointment.
If eligible, clients can also claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, a special tax refund program for working families and individuals.
Take the following items to your appointment: Social Security numbers for all individuals in the household, picture identification, W-2s, 1099s, 1098s, information about other income (interest income), deduction credit information (childcare expenses, tuition bills, union dues) and a copy of last year’s return, and bank account information for direct deposit.
Call Tri-County Community Action 593-0034 or (866) 256-4497 to schedule an appointment.
Openings available in Meals on Wheels program
The Tri-County Community Action Commission currently has openings in the Meals on Wheels program in Logan County.
Prospective clients must be homebound, 60 years or older or the spouse of a registered senior nutrition client that is 60 years or older to qualify for the home-delivered meal service.
Meals on Wheels offers a hot meal delivery Monday through Friday. All meals meet one-third of the daily recommended intake for older adults.
The agency accepts a contribution for each meal, although meal service is not denied for the inability to pay the entire suggested contribution.
Call 593-0034 or (866) 256-4497 for more information or to register for this service.
Lunches offered at senior nutrition sites
The Tri-County Community Action Commission has several senior nutrition sites available in Logan County.
The Patterson Café is located at 125 E. Patterson Ave. and serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday to registered Logan County seniors who are 60 or older or the spouse of a registered participant who is 60 or older.

There is a suggested contribution to help cover the cost of the meal, yet registered seniors will not be denied meal service due to the inability to pay the entire suggested contribution.
Those younger than 60 will need to call for specific meal pricing.
Meal reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Call 593-0034 or (866) 256-4497.
