WAPAKONETA — A St. Marys’ man was charged with possession of heroin Tuesday evening following an investigation into the delivery of heroin into the Auglaize County area from Dayton, deputies of the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office report.
Scott Neace, 41, was arrested at approximately 6:20 p.m. on U.S. Route 33 and Townline Kossuth Road following a traffic stop by Auglaize County deputies and Grand Lake Drug Task Force members.
A subsequent search of the vehicle and his person revealed a substantial amount of heroin. Drug paraphernalia in the vehicle indicated that the heroin was most likely going to be sold in the Auglaize and Mercer County area.
The defendant was transported to the Auglaize County Jail, where he is being held on a $50,000, 10 percent bond.
Sheriff Al Solomon stated, “The heroin problem is escalating in this area, and we are working hard at getting the source of the drug. This is a typical case of someone going to the Dayton area and buying the heroin to be sold in this community.”
Sheriff Solomon urges residents to call the Grand Lake Drug Task Force at (419) 739-2966 with any information concerning heroin use, sale or any other drug issues. Callers can remain anonymous.
