Huntsville closes 2011, looks to 2012

The Huntsville Village Council bid farewell Monday to council members Tobi Collins and Beverly Roberts at its final session for 2011 and welcomed Jim Jones as a new member for 2012.

Mr. Jones’ first meeting as an official is Jan. 10, the council’s first meeting of the new year.

One council seat remains, a four-year term. Interested residents of a year or more may call the village clerk or mayor at 686-4300.

Gene Kirby, manager of WRPO 93.5FM in Russells Point, was in attendance to provide information on an opportunity for the village to obtain its own radio station. The FCC, he said, is releasing more local frequencies, allowing small villages the opportunity to file for their own radio station.
