Dr. Christina M. Myers, RPH, PharmD, BCPS, of the Mary Rutan Hospital Pharmacy Department, has passed the Pharmacotherapy Board Certification Exam.
She had pursued the pharmacotherapy specialty in order to work more directly with physicians and to bring enhanced expertise to the hospital’s pharmacy department.
Through the rigorous certification and recertification standards mandated by the Board of Pharmacy Specialists, BPS board-certified pharmacists are uniquely trained to plan an integral role on the healthcare team to improve patient outcomes, help reduce health care costs and meet today’s expanding professional expectations in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
“This is quite an accomplishment,” says Melanie Hunsicker, PharmD and Directory of Pharmacy at Mary Rutan Hospital. “This feat requires years of study and passing of a very difficult exam.”
Board certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties has become recognized as the gold standard for determining which pharmacists are qualified to contribute at advanced practice levels.
