Melody Couchman, organizer of the Logan County Cancer Society’s Doors of EnCOURAGEment project, shared information about the upcoming third year of the event with members of the Bellefontaine Kiwanis Club during their Thursday meeting.
The project not only increases awareness of the Logan County Cancer Society and its mission but has been a wonderful fundraiser to assist Logan County cancer patients and their families, Ms Couchman said.
The Logan County Cancer Society is not affiliated with the American Cancer Society and the Mary Rutan Foundation oversees the operations of the Logan County Cancer Society and administers the allocation of funds with no administrative costs, she noted.
During the first year of Doors of EnCOURAGEment; 60 doors were displayed downtown with $26,000 raised. The second year, 72 doors were displayed with $36,000 raised.
This year, doors will go on display April 5 and will be auctioned at 6 p.m. April 29. To purchasing a door, donate or assist with the event; contact Ms. Couchman at 441-2962.
In other club activity, flyers for the Feb. 8, fundraiser concert by Miss Demeanor were shared with members. The concert will be at the Holland Theatre with proceeds supporting Kiwanis’ International Eliminate Neo Natal Tetanus Project.
Next week, Logan County Common Pleas Magistrate Tom Minahan will discuss his adventures on the Appalachian Trail and the monthly board meeting will be conducted.
