Pipes supplying the school’s sprinkler system froze and subsequently cracked Tuesday, according to Superintendent Kraig Hissong, leaving a mess that forced additional closures.
Maintenance and janitorial staff cleaned up after the busted pipes, which flooded a couple classrooms.
“In 20 hours, our staff had the school cleaned up,” Mr. Hissong said. “They did a wonderful job and I am proud of all their work getting the school in running order.”
Pipes connecting the sewer system also froze, but nothing busted, the superintendent said. Torches were among the tools utilized to thaw the pipes.
