Bus driver accused of smacking student, back at work

A West Liberty-Salem school bus driver is back behind the wheel following a suspension for having allegedly struck a male student with an open hand.

Mandy Randall returned to her position Dec. 16, Superintendent Kraig Hissong said.

The Champaign County Prosecutor’s office is still investigating the Nov. 19 incident, when the defendant reportedly struck the student with an open hand after he apparently didn’t respond to verbal attempts to get his attention, according to the driver’s personnel file.
