Man charged with breaking and entering

Garrett M. Pickering, 21, address at large, was charged with breaking and entering following an incident Friday evening.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Excel Auto Body and Paint, 1274 Township Road 204, Bellefontaine, about 9:30 p.m. in reference to a possible breaking and entering report.

Deputies arrived at the scene and observed footprints in the snow.

The property owner arrived and let deputies into the building, where they located the defendant hiding inside.

He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

Driver cited in West Mansfield crash

Stephen C. Wolfe Jr., 24, of Bellefontaine was cited for failure to yield the right of way following a crash about 2:10 p.m. Saturday in the village of West Mansfield.

He reportedly was backing a pickup into a driveway at 165 N. Main St. when he struck a southbound car operated by Patricia L. Clay, 80, of East Liberty, that had attempted to go around his vehicle. Both vehicles sustained light damage and no injuries were reported.

• Todd J. Vestich, 48, of West Liberty, did not report any injuries after his southbound sport utility vehicle struck a deer on U.S. Route 68 at Township Road 190 about 3:20 a.m. Sunday. Damage was disabling to the SUV.
