Crashes dominate sheriff activity


Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office handled several weather-related crashes Thursday, including an injury crash on U.S. Route 68 near County Road 111.

Erica L. Heberling, 21, of Kenton, was transported by a Rushcreek squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of possible injuries following the 5:50 a.m. crash.

She was driving a southbound car that traveled off the right side of the road, hit a mailbox and overturned. She was using a safety belt, deputies report.

She was cited for failure to control. The car sustained heavy damage.

Investigation of New Year’s Day hit-and-run crash complete

Around 12:15 a.m., deputies responded to a crash on County Road 63 near Township Road 256 and determined a westbound car traveled off the west side of the road, hit a road sign and overturned.

Dwayne A. Hubbard, 26, of Sidney, who was using a safety belt, walked away from the crash and was later identified as the operator. He was cited for failure to control and no operator’s license.

Damage was heavy to the car.
