The Humane Society Serving Logan County, located at 2521 N. U.S. Route 68, announced today that it is changing its name to the Top of Ohio Pet Shelter.
The board of directors decided the name change was necessary to overcome several misconceptions by the public.
First, a large number of area residents have the mistaken idea that the former Humane Society Serving Logan County is a county government entity and is funded entirely by the county. However, the organization is a not-for-profit organization independent of Logan County government.
Furthermore, the previous name also led people to believe that the organization was affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States, officials said.
