Oak Hill lab med tech retiring after 48 years

A local medical office soon will see the retirement of an employee who has been a constant presence in its medical lab for nearly a half century, and has become a piece of its history.

Medical technologist Jeannette Hostetler, who was hired at Oakhill Medical Associates near West Liberty in December 1965, put in her last day of work Wednesday. She officially retires effective Dec. 31.

“She’s been with our office since the very beginning,” said Joel Kauffman, office manager, of the private practice that was founded in August 1965.

“I’ve loved it for all of these years,” Mrs. Hostetler said. “You have a little bit of patient contact, and you work very closely with the doctors.
