David Lawson, 52, of 5126 County Road 168, West Liberty, was charged with domestic violence Monday afternoon after an incident at his address.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to his residence about 4:30 p.m. in reference to a domestic dispute. They found Mr. Lawson working on a pickup at the home, and they noted that the passenger side window was broken out of the pickup.
When questioned about the broken window, the defendant provided a variety of scenarios to deputies. He also displayed signs of intoxication.
He said his wife, Robin L. Lawson, 47, had left the residence on foot. After talking with a neighbor, deputies were able to contact Mrs. Lawson.
She told deputies that during a dispute with her husband, she tried to enter the pickup to retrieve a cell phone charger. When he continued to come at her, she locked herself in the pickup, and then he reportedly got an ax and broke the pickup window. However, no injuries were reported to Mrs. Lawson or her husband.
Mr. Lawson was transported to the Logan County Jail.
