The local WorkPlus One-Stop employment office located at 211 E. Columbus Ave. will change its name beginning in January, Job and Family Services director Susan Bailey-Evans told Logan County Commissioners Tuesday during a meeting.
The new name will be OhioMeansJobs Logan County and will seek to connect prospective employees with work throughout the region.
WorkPlus One-Stop, located in the northeast corner of the DJFS facility, averages 388 visits per month, according to information provided to commissioners Tony Core, John Bayliss and Dustin Wickersham. A total of 15 youth participants in a summer work program designed for adolescents resulted in zero terminations or workers’ compensation claims.
OhioMeansJobs furthers the agency’s ideals of providing temporary assistance to clients in need, but then hooking them into the employment-services aspect of the agency so that they can find a job, the director said.
