Chet M. Young, 25, of Covington, was charged Monday by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department with theft after he tried to leave Wal-Mart, 2281 S. Main St., with $279 in toys and other Christmas gifts around 3:50 p.m.
He was stopped by store employees while pushing a cart filled with merchandise.
Officers lodged him on the charge and on a Shelby County warrant for failure to appear on a domestic violence charge.
Mathews faces intoxication charge
Bruce Mathews, 47, at large, was charged Sunday with public intoxication after he refused to leave an Ohio Street residence around 8 p.m. He was unsteady on his feet, police report.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
