The Benjamin Logan FFA Food Science Team of Carlie Barns, Taylor McNamara, Gwen Rever and Jessica Skidmore recently placed fourth at the Food Science Career Development Event at Southeastern High School.
At the competition, participants taste a variety of different foods and judge them based on their five senses. They also are given different foods to eat and have to decide if there is a difference in the tastes.
In other FFA news, the novice parliamentary procedure team received fourth place and the varsity parliamentary procedure team received fifth place at the sub district preliminaries at Madison Plains High School.
Novice teams members included Justin Jordan, Hayden Lockwood, Luke Longbrake, Trent Neeld, Garrett Nicholl, Wyatt Prince, Cameron Weber and Erica Wilson, while the varsity team includes members Clayton Harpest, Masyn Murray, Holly Parker, Troy Selhorst, Tabitha Schmucker, Jessica Skidmore, Cameron Weber and Ashley Wilson.
The teams participated in a mock meeting to demonstrate their knowledge in proper parliamentary law and the correct use of parliamentary procedures.
Finally, members of the ag communications team Dalanie Barns, Grace Barger and Hayley Gibson competed at the Ag Communications Career Development Event at Southeastern High School.
The students prepare a communications project proposal for their chapter and also participate in individual activities such as editing exercises and completing a quiz covering the basic elements of journalistic writing and broadcasting, public relations writing, and graphic design.
