Bellefontaine Kiwanians recognized outgoing club treasurer Linda Hanson during the club’s weekly meeting Wednesday.
Mrs. Hanson has been a treasurer of the Bellefontaine Kiwanis Club since 2007. She is stepping down from that post but remains active in the club, Kiwanians report.
Fundraising ideas were discussed to contribute to Kiwanis International’s partnership with UNICEF to eliminate tetanus.
Club members watched a video about the Kiwanis International Eliminate Project — a five-year project aimed at eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus worldwide.
Maternal and neonatal tetanus kills 60,000 babies each year, according to previous Kiwanis Club meetings. Symptoms include repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch.
The first fundraiser for Bellefontaine Kiwanians will be in February.
The next meeting is noon Thursday at Cafe 212, 212 E. Columbus Ave. Featured speaker is Don Parker from Hilliard Kiwanis Club.
