Dispatcher receives 10 days off

City officials imposed a 10-day suspension with no pay on a Bellefontaine Police Department dispatcher for violating the department’s policies regarding off-duty conduct and its mission and values statement.

Cindy Padgitt, 58, of Bellefontaine, backed her sport utility vehicle into parked vehicles at 312 Belle Meadows Drive around 12:05 a.m. Nov. 10 and was charged by troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to control. The vehicles reportedly were owned by Dave Garwood and Roger Cushwa.

She recorded a blood alcohol content level of .101

Her suspension was retroactive to Nov. 18 so she will return to work Monday. She is a 29 1/2-year employee of the department.

The suspension was recommended after an internal review. Service-Safety Director James Holycross agreed and imposed the action.
