Now known as Logan County History Center
When the Logan County Historical Society unveils its new transportation museum in April, it will do so under a new moniker — the Logan County History Center.
Curator Todd McCormick said the name change better encapsulates all that has become the former Logan County Museum and Orr Mansion, 521 E. Columbus Ave.
“Especially now that we’re adding the transportation museum, Logan County History Center better captures the complex itself,” Mr. McCormick said. “We’ll still have the Orr Mansion, the (Logan County Genealogical Society) will still be housed here and we’ll still have the archives.
“Nothing changes but the name, which is better representative of the entire facility.”
Construction on the new transportation wing should be done sometime in the coming weeks with a grand opening slated for the end of April, as previously reported in the Examiner.
Once construction is complete, exhibits will be built and files will have to be moved to the second floor of the new wing, Mr. McCormick said.
During this phase of the transition, the museum will be closed to the public beginning Jan. 1 until the grand opening of the transportation museum.
New signage will reflect the new name of the facility, Mr. McCormick said.
