Gas station reports two drive-offs

BellefontainePolice patch

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report a pair of recent gasoline thefts recently from Madriver Marathon, 200 E. Sandusky Ave.

About 2 p.m. Wednesday, a clerk reported a man in his 20s entered the store and prepaid for $8 in gasoline. He reportedly was told the pump from which he was fueling doesn’t always stop at the prepaid amount.

The suspect pumped $10.01 in gas and left without paying the balance.

• About an hour later Wednesday, a store associate reported to officers that another man pumped $24.50 in gas from pump 14 and then failed to pay for the fuel. He reportedly entered the vehicle, which was driven by a woman, and the suspects left the scene.

Police are following up.
