Ridgemont Board of Education members were introduced at their Thursday evening meeting to a student proposal to implement an archery program into physical education curriculum at the junior high and high school.
Freshman Keegan McKee, who is an archer and FFA member, explained the National Archery in the Schools Program.
FFA adviser Stephanie Jolliff reported that the FFA has secured funding through local organizations to fully implement the plan. The funds will cover start-up supplies, materials and training for up to three staff members through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office also has agreed to partner with Ridgemont for practice space if needed.
