Anna begins process to disband department
ANNA — Anna Village Council has started the process to possibly disband the Anna Police Department and will conduct a town hall meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Anna Elementary School regarding the decision, all as Anna Police Chief Scott Evans returns to his job following unpaid administrative leave.
Council President Richard Eshleman said Chief Evans returned to his job last week after Mayor Robert Anderson contacted a psychologist who met with Evans and found him fit to return to work.
Eshleman said village officials have met with Shelby County Sheriff John Lenhart about the feasibility of law enforcement in the village if the police department is disbanded.
