Bellefontaine administrators can move ahead with a professional appraisal and legal services to acquire an unspecified piece of property in the city.
Members of the Bellefontaine City Council met behind closed doors to discuss potential legal ramifications of the acquisition process before voting 6-0 to authorize the appraisal.
Council member Peter DeSomma, an attorney, abstained from the vote because of a professional relationship with a potential litigant.
City leaders gave no more information regarding the land acquisition.
In other action, council members will see a temporary budget at the next meeting.
Currently, it appears the city’s general fund will have around $8 million in revenues, thanks to improved income tax receipts.
