Fire displaces family of five

A couple and three young children escaped a house fire unharmed today, firefighters of the Bellefontaine Fire Department report.

Heidi Hubble and Andy Neidemire and the children were in their 217 S. Park St. residence when a fire broke out in a second floor bedroom around 12:50 a.m.

Early fire reports say the fire is not suspicious and there is no readily apparent cause. It remains under investigation.

The fire was contained to the bedroom, but there was smoke damage throughout the second floor and some water damage to contents and the structure.

It is estimated the fire, smoke and water caused $25,000 damage to the property and contents.

Daniel Ashcraft is the owner of the property.

The displaced family was assisted by the Mad River Chapter of the American Red Cross.
