Traffic stop nets drug charge

Ronald Branham, 50, of Bellefontaine, was issued a summons for possession of drug abuse instruments following a traffic stop about 3:10 a.m. Saturday on Columbus Avenue at Detroit Street in Bellefontaine.

Troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report the traffic stop was initiated for a headlight being out. When approaching the vehicle, the trooper observed an odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and a pipe for smoking marijuana was located.

• A driver and his passenger each was issued a summons as a result of a traffic stop about 12:45 a.m. Saturday on south Main Street near Ingalls Avenue.

An odor of alcohol was detected in the vehicle, and field sobriety tests were administered to the driver Daniel Easton, 35, of Bellefontaine.

During the investigation, the passenger, Erica Bright, 32, of Bellefontaine, repeatedly tried to interrupt the proceedings. She was issued a summons for obstructing official business.

Mr. Easton passed the field sobriety tests, and was issued a summons for having an open container in a motor vehicle
