A suspect caught in the act of breaking into homes at Lake Ridge Resort was sentenced this week in Logan County Common Pleas Court to local jail time.
Daniel Matheson, 36, of Columbus, was sentenced to 30 days in Logan County Jail, two years’ community control and ordered to pay a $300 fine, court costs and attorney fees for attempted breaking and entering.
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office arrested the defendant in May following a report of a man breaking into various residences at the mobile home park.
Mr. Matheson reported he had recently been residing with his stepfather at the mobile home park at Lot 84D. He said he had been drinking that night and decided to break into some trailers. He broke into homes on three different lots using credit cards or the pry bar to open the doors.
Also sentenced was Christopher Stachler, 36, of Lakeview. He will serve 30 days in Logan County Jail, be placed on five years’ community control and was ordered to pay a $250 fine, court costs, attorney fees and restitution for burglary.
Pleading guilty were:
• Seth Hoffman, 27, of Lakeview: possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs. He was granted intervention in lieu of conviction and must complete drug and alcohol counseling and three years’ community control;
• Ruth Clark, 29, of Bellefontaine: theft and was placed on the prosecutor’s pretrial diversion program; and
• Tiffany McMann, 29, of Lakeview: forgery. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 25.
