Two men were charged with drug offenses after detectives of the Logan County Joint Drug Task Force located them at 813 W. Williams Ave. around 1:15 p.m. Friday. One of the detectives was bitten on the wrist by a dog as they approached a car with one of the suspects inside.
Chase A. Brown, 23, of that address, was arrested inside his residence on two warrants of trafficking in heroin.
Detectives report he is suspected of transporting heroin from Columbus to resell it here.
The task force acted after Dustin D. Stevens, 29, of 5284 County Road 12, Rushsylvania, parked his car in the drive of the residence.
As they approached the vehicle, a dog, described as a pitbull, lunged from the car and bit a detective. He punched the dog and pulled away to detain Mr. Stevens. The dog backed off and stayed away.
They seized burnt spoons, filters and hypodermic needles from Mr. Stevens along with $343 in cash.
He was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and was cited for driving under suspension. Mr. Brown had $238 cash on him and it was seized by detectives.
Both were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
