Rum Creek church celebrates 175 years

Pastor Dawn Swartz leads the Rum Creek United Methodist Church congregation in celebrating 175 years of worship during a special 10:30 a.m. service Sunday, followed by a luncheon and 1 p.m. celebratory ceremony.

According to Logan County historical records, Rum Creek had its beginning in 1838, when church trustees organized to purchase a half acre in Bloomfield Township for a mere $5. Some 50 years later, church officials acquired an additional acre for $20.
