Shane E. Alexander, 44, of 221 N. Detroit St., was arrested about 10 p.m. Tuesday for domestic violence following a complaint from his 13 year-old-daughter.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report the girl and her friend, another young girl under the age of 13, came to the lobby of the police department about 9:30 p.m. and told officers her father pushed her into a back door and threw a pop can at her during an altercation at their home.
The girl said she and her friend arrived home in the middle of a loud argument between the suspect and his wife, Chasity Alexander, 39, same address. Police report the suspect told his daughter that her friend needed to go home and then he walked onto the back porch and shouted an obscenity at the girl while telling her to leave the property.
The suspect’s daughter got in between the two and told her father to go away. That was when he reportedly grabbed his daughter by the right arm and slammed her against the back door, leaving a minor scratch at the top of right hand where her father’s fingernails dug into her skin.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Alexander were intoxicated when police arrived at their residence. The suspect reported he’d drank three 40 ounce beers and his wife drank whiskey.
The suspect told police his daughter was the one who threw the pop can.
He was lodged in Logan County Jail. The complaint, along with another domestic violence report from June, will be forwarded to Logan County Children’s Services.
