Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, residents, and visitors to the Indian Lake region, the Turkeyfoot Benefit Crew raised $55,000 this year to benefit hospice.
From those funds, $13,000 was donated to each of four facilities in the surrounding area, including Caring Hearts in Bellefontaine, Tri-County Hospice in Wapakoneta, Hardin County Hospice in Kenton and The Wilson Memorial Foundation in Sidney.
A $3,000 donation was provided to the Shriner’s for their continued participation and support in the annual Turkeyfoot Hospice parade.
The majority of this year’s fundraising came from two summer events and through the sale of pull tab tickets by the staff at Froggy’s at the Lake.
The annual Hospice Parade and Auction raised $13,000 from the contribution of more than 125 donated items and almost $10,000 in the sale of raffle tickets. A total of 139 boats took part in the annual Bass Tournament which raised a total of $7,000 in profits.
The 2014 Parade and Auction is June 21 at Turkeyfoot and the Bass tournament is Aug. 24 at Moundwood State Park.
To date, the all-volunteer organization since 2000 has raised more than $375,000. All funds go directly to patient care; no funds are used for administrative purposes.
