CITY SCHOOLS: Forecast shows 5 years in the black

Bellefontaine City Schools Treasurer Keith Krieger presented the district’s financial forecast Monday evening that shows five years in the black, but he also cautioned there are several unknown factors that could greatly effect the budget.

“There are still a lot of unknowns regarding state funding,” he said. “We’ve included flat revenues in the last three years of the forecast because we don’t know what the state will do.

“We’re also waiting to find out about all of the implications of new requirements to contribute toward preschool education through the Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities.”

In addition, with the recent opening of the two new school buildings along Ludlow Road, another unknown expenditure is the utility costs for these two facilities.

“It won’t be until next year that we will really have a good idea what utility costs will be for the entire heating and cooling cycle,” Mr. Krieger said.
