Two face shoplifting charges

Danielle D. Carpenter, 24, of 416 W. Center St., West Mansfield, and Allison P. Hale, 25, of 2114 Township Road 56, each was charged with two counts of theft after they were stopped around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Dollar General, 338 E. Columbus Ave.

Ms. Hale was found inside the store and Ms. Carpenter outside at her car. Around $90 in store merchandise was recovered from Ms. Hale’s purse.

Around $78 in sports apparel allegedly stolen from Dunham’s Sports, 2061 S. Main St., was found in the car.

Both were lodged in the Logan County Jail, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department reported.

Driver cited in crash

Garrett L. Ashcraft, 17, of West Liberty, was cited for failure to drive in the marked lanes of the road after a 3:30 p.m. two-vehicle crash Tuesday in the 500 block of south Main Street.

He attempted to change from the center lane to the curb lane. His southbound car was hit by a sport utility vehicle operated by Lula Fulkerson, 74, of Bellefontaine. Damage was light.

Hit-and-run damages two parked vehicles

Officers are investigating a hit-and-run crash in which a westbound maroon car, possibly a Buick LeSabre, hit two parked vehicles in the 200 block of east Auburn Avenue around 8 a.m. Monday.

Damaged were a pickup truck and car registered to Paul Harner, 212 E. Auburn Ave.

Officers noted the suspect vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction on the one-way eastbound street.
